Allison, I am grateful for this platform because I have been connected with people like you. I tell my friend Rachel all the time that Substack feels like we are happily stuck in a library. Thank you for the mention, your writing has not only shown me the power of. vulnerability but also connected me with others who believe in that same power. This was also a gentle reminder to read Anagha's piece.

It's wonderful to see so many names I am familiar with here. I appreciate you.

Ah, I love it. Happily stuck in a library. I totally feel that.

Vulnerability is a power - a superpower that it is helping me learn that when I plug it into others, it can move through this conductor of a platform, creating a collective charge.

Thank you for your kindness, Marc. Your work and the letters you craft to Myles continue to light me up and inspire me.

Thank you so much for the mention, Allison! I feel blessed and grateful to have you as a travelling companion on this journey.

Lately, I’m finding that my relationship with writing the personal is changing - but I suspect it will always be changing! Part of this is about me…and part is about where and how I intersect with these online realms (which, frankly, don’t always or often feel supportive). Amidst it all, I feel truly grateful for heart-sourced connections on Substack and for the heart-sourced work of writers like you. ❤️

And therein lies the beauty. That we all can flow with how we change in our relationships (to self and to others) with compassion. I feel an immense amount of admiration towards the way you show up to your audience (and how you show up to yourself). I am so thankful to know you, Dana.

What a beautiful love letter. Allison I feel so fortunate to get to watch you bloom in real time. You ARE a writer! A talented one too. I know this by how you make me feel when I read your work.

Your work keeps me honest with myself- A very important part of my recovery. I makes me feel seen and loved and not alone. It also brings me joy and inspiration. I know I need to be writing. Not a newsletter but the way I did my first year of sobriety. It was feverish and a god send. I’ve gotten away from it and by reading here I can feel my soul preparing to dig in the dirt some more. Until then I will keep getting pushed here. Thank you friend! So excited to see what the next 6 months bring. ♥️

This comment means so much to me, Amy. Thank you 🙏🏼

The staying honest with ourselves - THAT is the gnarly work of recovery. Writing gets me back there - to my truths.

We show up - with our lanterns & shovels to dig it all up. Sill our soil.

I encourage you to get back in the dirt! Even if you dig up words only you read.

You being here helps me more that you know! 💕

Christopher, you have nudged me (inspired me) more than anyone else here on Substack to get cozy with my psyche! LOL I have leaned into going deeper with Jungian theories because of you and I appreciate all your insights.

Thanks for this kind comment!

Thank you so much Allison. I am one of the readers who receives your work and fully appreciates your honesty and vulnerability and inspiration but doesn't always write to tell you how much it sticks with me. Your voice is always calm and insightful and encouraging and that means a lot. Thanks for the recommendation too! Glad to be in such great company.

A beautiful, true, and timely reminder. And.. yes, you are a writer! Thank you for being a co-celebrator of this community, Allison.

"This thoughtful friend hasn’t ever commented, liked, re-stacked or replied to the email that drops in her inbox each Friday. Yet she told me she reads every one of them. I share this here to remind all of us who write on Substack , who labor over the work we cradle and then release each time we hit post - you never know whose heart it will speak to. Your words can reach far and wide."

What a beautiful tribute to being here for six months Allison.

I love the quote about the lantern and especially your words about not knowing you needed others to hold it up to you. It’s as if you popped into my own heart to look around at what’s been happening as I’ve committed to writing. May your next six months be filled with gentle exploration that you continue to share.

Thank you, Donna 🙏🏼. I appreciate you letting me know that.

Yeah - I tell myself often that I am a lone wolf -that my craving of solitude means I am on my own journey. But the truth is - I need and want company as I walk the path back to me.

Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts!

Awww, Allison, I loved this essay. First off, you ARE a writer. You are a writer simply because you write. Period. And you write beautifully, vulnerably, bravely, from the heart. The only way to write. Thank you for including me in your roundup of the writers you connect with and enjoy here on Substack. I so appreciate the way you lift up other writers and your subscribers. Your generosity of spirit shines through in your writing, like a lantern, as you cast the light on others, too. I can't wait to explore the writers you mention here that I am unfamiliar with. You inspire me to do my own sharing of the writing I love here on Substack. Like you, my books lay untouched while I roam all over the great Substack land, making friends and feeling my heart and soul touched by someone else's words. Write on, my friend, into the darkness, knowing you will always find the light.
