Allison, my soul sister, how attuned we are. If you have time to hop over to my essay today about pledging to live in my Zone of Genius (and how this book by Gay Hendricks complements the Stephen Cope book that I also write about and which we read together two years ago), you will see how aligned we are. I am so so SO proud of you for taking this step of stepping back from your Substack weekly commitment to focus on a book proposal. Absolutely do it. Listen to your calling. Don't waste another minute (And yes, I am saying this as much for myself as for you!) As always, this is beautifully written. I love the way you advised your son as he makes this big decision, listening to his gut, what a great mom you are. I resonate so deeply with the quiet knowing. And I am cheering you on. Also, do direct message me as I have some resources on writing book proposals that might be useful to you. Go, Allison! Oh, and I am so glad you love "Crack the Case." But I have to give credit where credit is due. It was on one of Laura McKowen's playlists in the Bigger Yes course from 2022. Of course it was, right?

Amy - we are such kindred souls and with the timing of our "alignments", it's wild! I needed a tune up (which was one reason I dipped back into Laura's The Bigger Yes course 2 years later). Somehow, I missed the Crack the Case song back then, but it is RIPPING me open now (in all the best ways).

Thank you for your encouragement and support. It means so much. I will definitely be in touch for some resources. The proposal feels a bit daunting, but I am excited to take this step.

And I will def be reading your essay from today. I'm sure I will eat it up and it will feed my soul! xoxoxo

There are no accidents as I am right in the middle of The Great Work of your life as well. Just another love tap from the universe. I’m still trying to figure out what my Dharma is but finally in sobriety I can feel it calling out. Beautiful post! Thanks for affirming I am on the right path.

I agree wholeheartedly- there are no accidents! The universe delivers just what you need. The clarity sobriety gifts us will help us hear that inner knowing. And that will inch us towards our Dharma.

Thanks for reading and letting me know this resonated, Rob! 🙏🏼

As always your words, and the sentiment behind them, hit right where I'm at. My recent pivot has been taking a step back from Instagram, and a smaller step back from my writing workshops that I started during the pandemic, and honing my attention in on Substack. This feels right for me right now, and if that changes one day, that's okay too. Thank you for wearing your hear on your sleeve, and giving others the permission to do so too. Grateful to be a part of the Wednesday crew 💗

Having the discernment to listen to whatever shifts in us, especially the smaller knowings of what we need next, is a gift. One of the gifts sobriety handed me. I love that you feel free to pivot however you need to, too. I can’t wait to see your growth here on Substack. I’m coming along for the ride with you!

And I am so grateful to you for being a part of the Wednesday crew. Our recent convo /virtual gathering was so uplifting. Thank you, Kezia💕

Wow, we are such similar stages of life (I'm at the airport with my high school junior son, en route to a college visit) and I completely relate to the car conversations. I also relate to the fullness of life and the need to make hard choices. Way to go on finding a path to honor yourself and your calling.

Thanks Serena! It’s a bittersweet spot to be in with our kiddos, right? The push/pull of wanting them to go out and fly but wishing we could hold onto them a bit longer.

Safe travels! Enjoy the tours.

Beautiful. Love your advice to your son about the quiet knowing. Good luck with your crazy work season. How the heck do you have time to write, and lawyer, and mom, and be awesome?! Do you sleep???

Oh sleep. I just suck at it. I FALL asleep no problem, but my brain gets me up like clockwork, in the 4:00 hour. I'm one of those assholes that loves the morning so much that I get up when it's still dark. If I get 7 hours, that's a good night for me. I manage ok. But I move REAL slow at night. Like bra is off by 6PM and I'm a slug around the house. LOL
